Ministry to the Orphans

We have now been supporting one of the Belarussian orphanages for 7 years. We provide the materials to help the orphanage to be clean and tidy and comfortable for the children to live in. 6 years ago as I was walking through the orphanage I spoke with a little girl and told her that Jesus loves her, she shocked me by replying, who’s Jesus. We prayed for 5 years that God would open the door here for a Sunday school, so that we could teach the children all about the love of God, and how that the Lord Jesus Christ died upon the cross to save us from our sins. After 5 years of prayer God answered, and today we have a Sunday school in the orphanage, praise the Lord that the children are hearing about Jesus.

A team of young men and women from the Bible Baptist church go along faithfully each Sunday to play with the children, and to teach them the Bible stories. We visit the orphanage twice a year, once in the summer and once at Christmas. Each Christmas we bring presents for all of the children, these presents are provided by the churches here in Northern Ireland. Just recently another orphanage, in the town of Zhodino, opened its doors for a Sunday school, so even more children will here about the Lord Jesus Christ. . Please pray for this very important work among the orphans.

 

Ministry to the Art School

We have been working with the art school in Zhodino for the last 4 years. Sasha is the director of the school, and Luda his wife works alongside him.

There are over 200 gifted children and teachers at this school, but the big problem is always finances and materials. They just do not receive any help. But we have been helping them and now the school looks good. We have been providing the furniture and electronic equipment that enables the school to move forward. 2 years ago I was invited to speak to the pupils and teachers, during my preaching I heard a commotion at the back of the room. I had apparently upset one of the teachers by talking about sin and the cross.

So she reported me to the Belarussian KGB, who investigated me, but praise the Lord he undertook for me and all is well. When possible, the preaching in Belarus is better left to the local Christians as there are serious restrictions on foreigners being openly involved.

Thankfully, there is still a little bit of freedom left for the locals to preach the gospel in some areas of the country. . Sasha and his wife Luda attended church with us for the first time at Christmas and they enjoyed it.

Please pray that the Lord would touch them both and save them.

 

Ministry to the Multiple Sclerosis Sufferers

Not an easy ministry but one that is full of blessings. Working with the sick can be a very depressing kind of work, but out of all the areas that we deal with this area has truly been blessed by God. Eight years ago we found that there were many MS sufferers in the town of Zhodino in Belarus, and many of these sick people were living on their own with nobody to look after them or to care for them.

Almost all of them were living in high rise flats unable to get outside on their own, many others were bedridden with nobody to clean them or wash them, it was terrible. But praise the Lord he showed us a church in the town that cared. Some of the ladies came on board to help look after the ill, washing them, changing them, comforting them. But we were not only looking after their physical needs, because these ladies were Christians who were on fire to serve the Lord. Very quickly all of the MS sufferers except for one man came to know and love the Lord Jesus Christ. This was an area of the work where God provided before we even had time to pray about the needs, such was the urgency of each case. He provided food, warm clothing, bedding, finances, medicines, and many other things. . We want to thank our caring God for his ongoing provision for the sick in Zhodino.
